Driver Terms and Conditions

Welcome to VI Rider. These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your use of our services as a driver on the VI Rider platform. By signing up and using our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree with any part of these Terms, you may not use our services.

  1. Eligibility
  • You must be at least 21 years old, hold a valid driver’s license and legally capable of entering into our contract under the laws of the US Virgin Islands.
  • You must have at least 3 years driving experience.
  • Proof of residency.
  • A recent, clear photo (passport) of driver for mobile app.
  • Passing a thorough background check excludes:
    • Any DUI, felony theft, felony fraud, or any drug crime in the past seven years
    • Burglary, robbery, or use of a motor vehicle in a felony in the past ten years
    • Violent crime, Tier II or Tier III sex crime, or terrorism at any time
  • A clean driving record excludes:
    • Felony involving a motor vehicle
    • DUI leading to injury or death
    • Unlicensed driving leading to injury or death
    • Vehicular homicide
    • Street racing
    • Careless or Reckless driving
    • Hit-and-run

2. Account Registration

  • You must provide accurate and complete information during the registration process.
  • During your account creation and registration, we will collect, and may verify, certain information about you and the vehicle(s) you use to provide Rides (“your vehicle”).
  • You must pass background, driving record and other checks required in connection with your provision of services under these Terms (including those required or facilitated by third parties). You hereby agree to provide copies of such checks upon request and authorize and instruct us to provide copies of such checks to insurance companies, relevant regulators and/or other governmental authorities as needed for safety or other reasons.
  • Account sharing is not allowed. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for all activities that occur under your account. Never share your personal information used in connection with your account, including but not limited to username and password, with anyone else to access the VI Rider platform.

3. Vehicle Requirements

  • Your vehicle must be a quality motor vehicle in excellent operating condition, legally registered, and fully insured.
  • You must maintain your vehicle according to industry safety, cleanliness, and maintenance standards, and monitoring for and repairing any parts that are recalled by the vehicle manufacturer.
  • Your vehicle must undergo regular inspections and comply with all local and state regulations.
  • Admissible vehicles include:
    • 4 doors
    • No branding
    • One color
    • No accident damage
    • 5 seatbelts or more – one for each passenger and one for driver.
    • Maximum age of 15 years
  • Proof of vehicle registration
  • Proof of license plate
  • Proof of inspection
  • Ability to attach an infant or child seat

4. Driver Conduct

  • You agree to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, including traffic laws and professional taxi / limousine service standards.
  • You must not engage in any illegal, unsafe, or inappropriate behavior while using our services.
  • You must assure that, while in the vehicle, no passenger shall consume alcoholic beverages. Smoking, vaping, illegal use of alcohol, and/or narcotic or controlled substances are prohibited and will result in additional charges and immediate termination of the trip.
  • You must not exceed the passenger capacity of the vehicle provided.
  • You must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  • You must treat passengers with the utmost respect, courtesy, and discretion.
  • Sexual assault and sexual misconduct of any kind is prohibited. Sexual assault and misconduct refers to sexual contact or behavior with or without explicit consent of the other person. Personal space and privacy should be respected. The following list provides examples of inappropriate conduct but is not exhaustive.
    • Asking personal questions (for example, about relationship status or sexual orientation)
    • Commenting on appearance (for example, derogatory or “complimentary” comments)
    • Making explicit comments or gestures (for example, slurs, or graphic or suggestive messages)
    • Flirting (for example, nonverbal, suggestive flirting, or being too physically close)
    • Displaying indecent material (for example, sexually suggestive objects or pictures)
  • Aggressive, confrontational, or harassing behavior is not allowed. Don’t use foul language, make gestures, or take actions that could be disrespectful, discriminatory, threatening, or inappropriate.

5. Service Quality

  • You must provide exceptional and reliable service to passengers, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • You must not discriminate against passengers based on race, gender, religion, nationality, disability, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
  • You must maintain a clean and well-presented vehicle for each trip.
  • Children 14 or under must wear seat belts and be seated in the rear.
  • Children 7 or under must be seated in age and weight-appropriate child safety seats as follows: Booster seats are required for children 40 pounds to age 8 or under 4’ 9”.
  • Drivers and riders should comply with applicable laws when traveling with infants and small children. Where use of a car seat is required by law, it’s the rider’s responsibility to provide and fit a suitable car seat, unless our local guidelines, terms, or other policies say otherwise. 
  • If a child does not appear to be within the height and weight safety requirements for the car seat, or if a driver otherwise feels that the child cannot be safely transported in the seat, the driver can cancel the ride.

6. Fees and Payment

  • You agree to our payment terms, including our commission and any applicable fees.
  • You are responsible for any taxes applicable to your earnings.
  • Payments will be processed in accordance with our payment schedule and methods.

7. Insurance

  • You must maintain comprehensive insurance coverage for your vehicle, including liability, personal injury, and property damage insurance as required by law and our policies.
  • In case of an accident, you must report it to us and your insurance provider immediately.
  • Your insurance company should list VI Rider as additional insured.

8. Termination

  • We reserve the right to terminate or suspend your account at any time for any reason, including violations of these Terms or any applicable law.
  • You may terminate your account at any time by following the account termination procedures.

9. Liability

  • You are responsible for any damage to your vehicle or any third party arising out of your use of our services.
  • We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of our services, except as required by law.

10. Dispute Resolution

  • Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with our arbitration policy.
  • You waive your right to participate in a class action lawsuit or class-wide arbitration.

11. Modifications

  • We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of any material changes, and your continued use of our services constitutes your acceptance of the modified Terms.

12. Governing Law

  • These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the US Virgin Islands, without regard to its conflict of law principles.

13. Entire Agreement

  • These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and VI Rider regarding your use of our services as a driver.
